These two are different things. “Marital status” means only to know if someone is married or not and to whom he or she is married, whereas the “marriage certificate” means to obtain a copy of the marriage certificate, which is something else. Apply for FRC:
The first process is to check if you or your spouse is married or not; then, you can apply for your FRC from the NADRA office. You can also apply for the FRC (Family Registration Certificate) from the Pak ID app. If you have queries about knowing if your husband has done a second marriage or not, then you can apply for your FRC, and you will know all of your family members. The issue with this process is that a wife or the second wife of your husband will not appear in this certificate until she has obtained her ID card in her husband’s name. A wife’s family tree only changes when she obtains an ID card in her husband’s name.
SMS:
The other process to check marital status in Pakistan online is to send your ID card number to 8009. When you SMS your ID card number to this number, you will get the message in reply with the names of all your family members. If your husband has remarried, then the new wife will appear as a family member in this SMS. The issue with this process is that the new wife of your husband will not be reflected in the SMS until she has obtained her new ID card in her husband’s name. Moreover, the issue with this helpline is that it has not been working since 2023. The other issue with this helpline is that you have to SMS the ID card number from the same mobile number that is registered with Nadra.
Pak ID:
The other way to check marital status in Pakistan online is through the Pak ID app. To know all your family members, you have to create an account on the Pak ID app, and there you can check your family members. The family members all include your husband, children, and your husband’s wives. The issue with this app is that the new wife of your husband will now appear in this app unless she has obtained her ID card in the husband’s name.
IT Board Record:
If your husband is married and has obtained a computerized marriage certificate, then you can hire the services of a lawyer to check the marriage records.
